The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

6.6/10

Stieg Larsson died before his Millenium trilogy were published. He was 50 years old.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was a page turner. Reading on the bus, or during small breaks at work I read this book whenever I had a few minutes to spare. I remeber reading this book during the hottest days that I have ever expierenced in Seattle and how my shirt stuck to my skin and I flew through this book.

The characters have good character development, the plot has many different webs to it but doesn't confuse the reader and the story is one that does not dissapoint.

I don't want to write any spoilers here, but when one of the supporting characters has a big revelation about them it seems a little too on the nose for my taste. Other than that this is a good book and I will be reading the others in this series.

Royal Flash

7.5/10
I liked this book. Another great installment by GMF

While it wasnt as good as the first installment of the Flashman series or The Complete McAuslan (I am not sure if any of GMF other books will be able to compete with that) this book was still a fun read. Hearing about more of Flashan's adventures, shenanigans and unbelieveable luck is always a good time.

Freakanomics

5.0/10

This book was a good book. However, there was very little economics in it. It was a blend of sociology, criminology, and a smattering of economics. The cases they looked at were interesting, but unoriginal. Aborted babies=less crime is something that they failed to mention was proposed by such and such in xyz year. I liked the book though. I guarantee being married to Levvitt is a fucking pain.

My Struggle: Book 1

7.9/10
I liked this book. Knausgård did a good job drawer a reader into his daily life and making it interesting.

He has the ability to make mundane things interesting and makes the reader want to do said things even though the averager reader has done the things countless times before. Buying soda, getting a coffee, going to work early to avoid your pregnant wife. All things that Knausgaard writes extremely well.

EDIT 4-3-22: Wow I just wrote another blog post about The Treasure of the Sierra Madre and came back to this post. It is vivid still in my mind reading about how Karl cooked a meal at his grandmother's house and drank sprite and vodka with his brother and grandmother. Such a simple topic but so well written. Bravo. I guess I will have to read the others.
